Oct 2nd 2020
The Committee hope that you are all continuing to keep safe as the virus is on the rise again.
Yesterday, Oct1st, we had another committee meeting when we confirmed that we are not in any position to restart walks.
The AGM is still postponed and current officers will remain in position until we can hold the AGM.
Following the recent Committee Meeting on Zoom, this is to advise that it was decided that it was still too soon to restart BFF Walks. New guidelines have been issued by Walking for Health but it still requires very exacting measures to make walks Covid-19 safe for Walk Leaders and Walkers, which we feel are too much of a responsibility for volunteer Walk Leaders to take on. The majority of our Walk Leaders are over 70, some with underlying health conditions or live with people in that category and are, therefore, classed as vulnerable, so the risks are just too great.
We suggest you continue to walk informally in small groups of 6, as has been happening the last few weeks.
The AGM which we usually hold on the last Thursday of September, has been postponed for the time being, until it is safe for large numbers to meet indoors and keep socially distanced. We will keep you informed when there are any changes to the guidelines from Walking for Health.
The virus is still out there, so caution is still required to keep everyone safe.Stay well and keep safe.
